"Echopaw!" Moonpaw came bounding over to her friend. " I hope Nightleaf wakes up soon. I have serious news to tell whitestar." She lloked down at her paws that where kneading the earth. She didn't want her friend to see her uncerinty(sp?). She felt so sure she couldn't do what Starclan wanted her to do, but she would try. She would do anything to please her warrior ancestors.

Leafsong gasped at the canion. She didn't know what to do. "What's happening? Why have you chosen to show me the canion?" She yowled questioningly at no cat.

Echopaw stared at Moonpaw with wide eyes, still brimming with shock. Setting down the bundle of reockleaf at her feet she murmured in a daze, robotically really. "Uh ... yeah. I- I do too." The apprentice resisted the urge to prod Leafsong awake; she needed to tell Shadowstar! When Nightleaf called Moonpaw Echopaw simply nodded good-bye and gave a quick "Good luck with Whitestar."

Leafsong never woke up. She never got a chance to wake up. A peice of the huge snow stone broke away and fell right on top of her. The stones sent her to StarClan in heart-beats.

Echopaw turned with a shreeking yowl of pain. Her mentor. Her mentor was dead! Stone was shattered around her, heartbeat stopped immediately. The young apprentice's eyes brimmed with tears, brimmed with utter emotion. "L-ll-eafsong! NO! You can't die!" Although Echopaw knew she knew everything about being a medicine cat, Leafsong hadn't taught her the compassion, the love. The she-cat touched her nose to Leafsong's flank, screeching at StarClan. How could they take her away from her?! After what felt like ages, Echopaw stood up, Snowstone utterly deserted. Heaving Leafsong by the scruff, her apprentice trudged back to camp, every pawstep seeming like an insane effort; a mixture of emotional and physical pain. Her eyes clouded over with pain.
