Griffinshade growled. Ignoring Foxpaw for the moment, he stomped up to his apprentice and glared at him, right into his eyes. His fangs were out, his neck fur bristled. He looked fierce and dangerous.
"Let's get this straight now." he snarled at his Kestrelpaw. "I don't deal with bratty, self-indulgent, whiney kits that think they're better than their leader, or me." he continued. His claws dug into the ground as he continued to spit out his words. "Straighten yourself out or you go back to the nursery." he moved closer to the tom's face. "If you can't stand the claws, stay out of the battlefield." he growled.

"Fine, lets get it straight," he growled back, "I don't think I'm better than anyone. But at the moment"-he dropped his mouse-"I don't want to waste my time with you or your little prodegy over there." He narrowed his eyes and growled in anger about every part of this cat. "So keep me out of it. You were made a warrior not too long ago and already you're acting like you hold a great deal of authority." He lashed his tail. He wasn't going to be ushered around by him.

Griffinshade's pupils shrank to slits held in narrowed eyes. His amber eyes glowed with fury. He reached his paw up and let his claws sink into the mouse and lifted it up to Kestrelpaw's face. "What is this?" he asked, trying to get to Kestrelpaw before he started a fight.

Kestrelpaw growled when Griffinpaw took his mouse. That was his food! "It's my meal," he snarled. What was this cat trying to do? Provoke him? Because he was angry enough.

Griffinshade breathed in deeply, trying to keep his cool. "What is this?" he looked down at the mouse. He hoped Foxpaw was paying attention as well because this could help her as well.

Didn't he hear him the first time? "It's a mouse," he "corrected" himself. This was pointless, very pointless. "What is your point?" His pelt pristled. Couldn't he just get on with it so he could eat?

[Naruto]

"Hm?" Foxpaw padded over, forgetting for a moment that she was mad at Kestrelpaw. She looked at the mouse, and then at Griffonshade. "What's it supposed to mean? It just looks like a piece of prey to me." The short she-cat sat down and stared at them with puzzle blue eyes.

Griffinshade flicked his ear at Foxpaw, signalling for her to be quiet and pay attention. "Precisely." he placed it down on the soggy clearing floor. "What happens if you try to run up to it?" he asked, hoping that his pupils would get where he was going.

"That's because that's what it is." Bee-brain. Griffinpaw was just being an obstacle now. He had to get past him to do what he wanted. Like eat. Or have distance between him and them. What happens when he runs up to it? "It just sits there in the pile so I can eat it as intended." StarClan...

Griffinshade growled, "When it's alive, Kestrelpaw." he sighed. He looked at the young tom, hoping to StarClan that he'd get it.

"I don't know." How many mice has he actually seen and successfully capture. Mm. A little over none. "They run away. That's what a would expect." No. Actually, they'd laugh at him for how poor his hunting skills are since his mentor neglected to teach him the basics.

[Goldenstorm]

Griffinshade nodded his broad head. "Right. They feel you coming before your even a dozen fox-lengths away from them." he stood up, stepping away from his pupils. "Try to crouch." he told the two.

[Naruto]

Foxpaw immediately fell into a crouch, balancing her weight in her haunches. "Like this?"

Oh, so now he wanted to teach him the art of hunting? Technically, this counted as training, and he wasn't going to have it. He stayed standing up, glaring at Griffinpaw defiantly. He wasn't going to be tricked into participating.

Griffinshade judged Foxpaw. He shook his head, "No, look." he moved closer to her and moved her paws farther apart from each other, lifting them up a bit so she was on the toes of her paws. She took his massive paw and pushed down on her back, bringing her closer to the ground. He looked over at Kestrelpaw to see how he was doing.

He sighed, closing his eyes as he saw that the tom was standing there. "Why won't you at least try?" he growled through gritted teeth as he reopened his amber eyes.

[Naruto]

Foxpaw nearly lost her balance as Griffonshade corrected her, but managed to stand still. Her tail writhed like a snake behind her, fluffed out with excitement and sticking almost straight up in the air.

Fine, fine. He probably wouldn't win this battle anyways. Kestrelpaw looked over at Foxpaw, scanning the way she was positioned. According to Griffinshade, that is. He studied her balance and the overall way she was positioned. Mhm. With one drop he crouched down to a near perfect stance. His tail down and his paws in the right place for optimal balance. It coulkd have been concidered perfect by the finest warrior, but it really wasn't. He was... slightly tilted, but not too noticeably so.

Griffinshade looked hard, looking straight at Kestrelpaw's paws. They were crooked. He went over to them, making them face straight. A smile was written all over his face, "It looks as if I'll something out of you yet Kestrelpaw." he boasted.
He faced both of them. "This is the best crouch you can achieve when hunting mice, they won't hear you, and because you take fast yet light steps, they won't feel you coming. You'll have a clear shot, but not for long. Mice are always on the move."

Kestrelpaw rolled his eyes. "So was the point that we're going to catch mice?" That was the training? Couldn't he have just said that instead of making them go through this? Really. When he first said training he really expected to start fighting, which he really didn't wanto to do. Hunting was more eventful.

[Naruto]

"Oh." Foxpaw wrinkled her nose, thinking. Then she seemed to unthaw, and she started creeping forwards, one paw in front of the other, towards the mouse. Then she pounced, completely missing her target and leaping a tail-length away from it. She sat up, mud all over her face. "Darnit!" she cursed crossly.

Griffinshade waved his tail, a signal that Foxpaw shouldn't worry about it. "That's not all it is." he looked back at Kestrelpaw. "I'm going over all the prey in the territory." he looked into the pile of prey. He picked up a slimy frog, huge and buldging, "Tell me all you know about this." he nodded to the frog, starting a new lesson.

Frog. Stupid frog. "They hop away at the last second when you try to catch them." At least, that was his experience. "Oh, and they eat mice." Well, that or rats. It was weird, but good to know. When the mouse population went down he could blame the frogs.

Griffinshade nodded. "Good start. Your right about the jumping thing. The best thing to do with them is get some distance between you and the frog and pounce onto it. Have your fangs ready, you'll have to kill it quick." he mewed at both of them. "You guys know how to pounce?"

[Naruto]

"Yeah." Foxpaw blinked. What cat didn't know how to blink? She bounced up to her mentor, not bothering to clean her pelt.
