Hunting with Leopardstrike(Rainpaw and Leopardstrike ONLY)

Rainpaw walked through the forest with Leopardstrike,remembering when it was so carefree. Now,with DarkClan on the loose,she was nervous to be out alone. But her old friend's presence comforted her.

Leopardstrike veered as far away from the borders of RiverClan and DarkClan as possible, scenting the air looking for any stray scraps of prey. It wasn't long before he found a plump vole gathering seeds and heading towards his burrow. Instantly he dropped into the hunters crouch. Since he couldn't really on camoflague he would have to rely on stealth alone. The closer he got the more he was sure the vole had caught his scent.

[Naruto]

Rainpaw kept her breath,not wanting to foil Leopardstrike's hunt. She kept completely still,ready to help if she was needed. The vole's whiskers twitched,but it continued scuffling along,unaware.

Before it could run he pounced and killed it with a death bite. Padding back to Rainpaw he dropped the vole in front of her. "For you." he meowed. Smiling thoughtfully, she was probably one of his best friends. And probably the only one he could spend time with, without things getting... Awkward...

[Naruto]

Rainpaw smiled at him. "Thanks,"she mewed,crouching to take a bite. She looked back up. "You want some?"she asked,her voice full of kindness.

"No, I ate before we left." That wasn't true, but he wasn't feeling hungry, he had a knot of fear in his stomach. Leopardstrike scented the air again. "No more birds." he murmured more to himself than Rainpaw, the storm had scared away any flying creature with threats of rain and thunder. Though the storm still hadn't broke.

Rainpaw nodded and ate the rest of the prey. She got up,licking her lips to remove all traces of her meal. She looked at Leopardstrike,at the fear on his face. "Ooh,I know!"she mewed,her eyes shining. "I bet I'll catch more prey than you!"she meowed playfully,scenting the air.

"Ah, you wish." Leopardstrike said, before jumping over a bush, to get a little ways away from Rainpaw so he could have a fair chance at catching more prey. Even though Rainpaw was a much better hunter than him, he was better fighter. He scented the air casually looking for any scent of prey and listening intently when he heard the tiny pattering of a mouse. "Rainpaw has no chance."

[Naruto]

Rainpaw purred quietly,and walked off,following a fresh mouse scent. She stopped a tail length away from the tiny creature. It was nibbling on an acorn,and she stalked it quietly. When she pounced,a squirrel darted from a bush close to her,and she swiped at it,holding it down. It chattered furiously,but she finished it off with a nip at the throat. Two in one paw,she thought smugly,carrying the the squirrel and mouse back to where Leopardstrike had just been.

By the smell of things Rainpaw had already caught two more pieces of fresh-kill, some squirrel and something else that he didn't bother to make out. He had just caught his precious vole and buried deep into the earth. He was going to have to step things up to win. And for that he needed a rabbit, he doubted those cowardly rabbits would leave their boroughs when the storm was still brewing, but he tried anyway. It wasn't long before he caught the smell of mouse in the air. This one was small, probably lost from it's nest or mother. He immediately stalked it like a shadow, before pouncing on the tiny creature and crushing it with his weight. It still was good fresh kill, no matter how small.

[Naruto]

Rainpaw purred in laughter. She lifted her nose to the air,scenting for prey. "Vole.."she murmured,closing in on the small animal. She crouched by a fern,the shadowy fronds camouflaging her well. The vole was snuffling around a thorn bush,and as she watched,it picked up a worm and began chewing on it. Eww,she thought in disgust,fighting the urge to shake her head. She placed one paw forwards. While it's distracted,she thought smugly. She pulled her other paw forwards,and heard a barely audible 'snap'. The vole looked up,and she pounced. It scurried from under her paws,and she leaped into the bush,catching it with her jaws as she leaned down,barely feeling the thorns digging into her fur. She walked backwards,but couldn't move,as pain stung her shoulders and sides when the thorns caught her skin. She yowled softly in pain,knowing she was stuck. I just hope Leopardstrike comes along soon,she thought worriedly,yowling again in pain as she struggled around. She was half in the bush,the vole hanging limply from her mouth. What a sight she would make...

Mouse and vole, he thought to himself wondering what Rainpaw was doing. He might as well head back now, seeing as how he was pretty much done with hunting. Leopardstrike padding back to the clearing they had split up at. "Rainpaw?" he asked his voice muffled by the fresh kill in his mouth. He would of tried scenting her after he put his fresh kill down, but the smell of the delicious meat was still clear in his nose.

[Naruto]

"Leopardstrike!"Rainpaw mewed,wriggling around only to gasp in pain as thorns scratched her face. "Help,"she moaned,nearly dropping the vole. Her white paw had a tiny stream of blood dripping to the ground from a thorn stuck in her shoulder,and she winced. "Leopardstrike!"she yowled through the tiny furry rodent.

Leopardstrike followed the sound of the she-cats voice holding in laughter as he found her stuck in a bramble thicket. "How did you get yourself in this mess?" he asked cocking his head to one side, sustaining his laughter for when he was sure she was okay.

[Naruto]

Rainpaw dropped the vole. "How do you think?"she purred,holding back the pain. She wriggled some more,finally giving up. She fell limp,panting. She looked up,her eyes bright. "Help please?"

"Okay, just stand still." he murmured before getting to work on the brambles. Despite the sharp thorns ripping apart his muzzle and scratching at his eyes, he started biting long strands off, and stamping down those that wouldn't fall off. By the time he was done he still had a lot more to do, and his pads were starting to bleed. "Try moving now."

[Naruto]

Rainpaw struggled,pulling with all her might. She felt herself slipping from the vines,and chewed through one holding her front paw and chest. She struggled more,squeezing out of the bush slowly. Soon only her flanks were still covered in thorns. "Thanks,"she panted.

"Well, if you don't have any other matters to settle with anymore bramble thickets. We might as well get back to camp. What did you catch?" he asked ignoring the sharp pain on his frontpaws and collecting prey he had caught. A mouse, a vole, and before he had found Rainpaw, a squirrel. Not much but enough.

Blossompaw padded into the clearing, she felt happy to see Leopardstrike "hi!" she mewed

Rainpaw purred and replied,"A squirrel,vole,mouse. That's all."she looked at him in shock. "You beat me,didn't you!"she mewed playfully. She looked over her shoulder at Blossompaw. "Hey!"she mewed,purring.

"I don't believe it... Silverstar actually let you into ThunderClan? How did RiverClan take it?" He knew much about Blossompaws quest to join ThunderClan from the random gossip in camp, but he had never thought that Silverstar would actually allow her into the camp, not with tensions so high in RiverClan. Did this ensure a great battle? Or just high tensions that would never break just like the storm hovering above.

[Naruto]

"Your ThunderClan now? Great!"Rainpaw mewed happily. She knew Leopardstrike would be happy now,and that was all she asked of her old friend.

"yeah, she is a kind leader, most of riverclan didnt take it that bad...except for Mountainpaw..."

[Naruto]

"What did he do?"Rainpaw asked softly.

Leopardstrike shuddered of the mention of the cats name. He had almost killed him, and now he wished that he could never see him again. Even in StarClan, "Is he okay?" Leopardstrike wondered just out of curiosity not really caring about Blossompaw's brother.
