Shadow sat, facing the wall of her den. A butterfly foolishly fluttered in front of her, and she pinned it to the wall with a claw, before squishing it with her paw. ShadowStar hissed quietly to herself, trying to think. A leader was supposed to be clever, smart, and always know what to do...and ShadowStar couldn't make up her mind.

She was shocked that ThunderClan would do such a thing, but the evidence was all over the body. Raking her claws down the wall with a painful, drawn-out scrape worse than fingernails down a blackboard, Shadow stood up and walked out of her den. She would go and share tongues with StarClan, and ask them for guidance. If they told her to attack, she would attack in three days. Shadow set off to announce that she would be leaving for a day or two. Shadow stood stock still. Who would be in charge while she was away? She knew a few cats ready for a place as Deputy, but she'd have to think hard about which ones would be best... sighing, the young dark cat sat down straing at the wall again to think.

Shadowclaw padded up to Shadowstars den with a pigeon.
"Shadowstar, are you there? I have some fresh kill for you." He quietly asked.

Arcticpaw padded into Shadowstar's den he need to talk to her about him needing a mentor.

"Shadowstar? Are you there?" he meowed as he popped his head in her den.

Shadow whirled around as two cats simultaneously entered her den. "Oh. Hello, Acticpaw, Shadowclaw." she gratefully dipped her head to the warrior, "Thank you." looking up, she gazed at the two cats with her blue-and-green eyes. "What may I do for you both?" she asked. She was pretty sure there was a reason for them to visit, and a chat with them might take her mind off the ThunderClan problem.

"Umm, I still need a mentor, I would like to become a warrior soon." he meowed

Shadow's eyes glinted. Brilliant. "OK, Arcticpaw." she turned to ShadowClaw. "Do you two get along?" she asked, her head tilted to the side.

If she apprenticed Arcticpaw to ShadowClaw, ShadowClaw would be able to be a Deputy, and ArcticPaw would be able to be a warrior. Shadow had thought about Blackclaw as deputy, but her good friend had never had an apprentice.

"Yes, I would say we do." Arcticpaw meowed.

Shadowclaw sat down and placed his tail neatly over his paws.
"That would be fantastic Shadowstar." He purred as he placed the pigeon in front of his leader.
"I came here to ask about the gathering. Can I come?"

[Edward]

ShadowStar closed her eyes in a relieved smile. "Then I shall apprentice Arcticpaw to Shadowclaw, and ShadowClaw...shall become my deputy." she said softly, her tail flicking pleasantly. "I'll make the announcement at sundown."

Shadowclaw was beyond words. How could he be deputy. He was glad but scared at the same time. He had never done something like this.
"Thank you very much Shadowstar. It is an onour to be your deputy." Shadowclaw bowed his head with complete respect for his leader. But he couldn't help thinking, if Shadowstar died he would be the leader. Her presense would forever linger in his mind. For if he was made leader he would go by the name Shadowstar aswell.

"Shadowstar, may I come to the gather with my new mentor?" he asked, is he was allowed to go, it would be his first gathering.

[Edward]

Shadow nodded, placing a paw on the pigeon. "Thanks for the fresh kill, ShadowClaw." she turned to the apprentice cat. "You may both come; I'll announce who is coming at sundown with the other announcements.

OOC: shadowclaw, did you want to be deputy? or did i assume wrong from the other thread 'tragedy'? ^^"

"No problem Shadowstar, I can't wait." He respectively bowed his head and heaved himself to his paws.
"Thank you Shadowstar."
