Hunting With Boredom Empty Hunting With Boredom

Flintpaw stepped into the territory, a thin breeze blowing her tail sideways for a quick second. Mud seeped gently between her paws, but not enough to slow her down. She scented the air, nothing. "Know any good places to find prey?" she turned to Stormpaw.

"Everywhere?" Stormpaw replied sarcastically. He knew no particular spot, he just walked until he found something. He sniffed the air, seeing I can find a scent, but he didn't find any strong one near here. "I think we need to keep going that way," he said, pointing his tail slightly to the right.

"Ok Stormmouth." Flintpaw kidded, starting in the direction Stormpaw pointed. He'll make a bossy warrior. she rolled her eyes inwardly as she thought, walking through the territory, her nose constantly taking in scents and keeping her eyes trained ahead of her, in case she spotted something before she scented it.

Stormpaw looked around, though lazily, as he followed Flintpaw. He sniffed everywhere, any scent of prey barely becoming strong. He started to think whatever he was smelling was in ThunderClan territory or something. They'd better find food, though, and if they didn't, he'd run right over that border line and get it himself.

Flintpaw stopped and turned around, "This isn't working." she meowed gruffly. "We have to go somewhere else." She moved her eyes southwest, "Come on." she almost growled, making her way to where she looked.

"Mhm." He replied and followed behind her. "And you smell prey this way? Because I don't. Not really, anyways..." He scanned the area, just in case there was prey without scent, which he doubted.

Flintpaw didn't look back at him. "Just trust me on this one, okay?" she called over her shoulder. She saw the trees thinning out, sand in the distance beyond the last trees. She sped up to a trot, eager to get where she was heading.

Stormpaw moved at the same pace, watching as Flintpaw started to move past him. Well... he could see where this was going. As the trees thinned her could see easily that they were nearing WindClan territory. They were going to catch rabbits! Woopdy doo! "I'm questioning your plan, Flintpaw."

"Are you now?" Flintpaw smiled. "Not afraid of water are you, Stormpaw?" She stopped at the sandy bank, looking down at the water below them. The river roared past, the murky water hiding flickers of the silver scales the belonged to the fish that she planned to hunt.

"Why would I be afraid of some water?" He looked down in the water, seeing the fish swim by. Quickly he thrust his paw inside, scaring all of the fish downstream. "Oops. I accidentally scared them away by accident. Can we go somewhere else now? No one wants to eat fish," he growled.

Flintpaw glared at him. "They'll eat what they have to." she growled and kept her eyes on the river, her paw in the air, keeping perfectly still. She whipped her paw in and scooped it out, a fat fish laying on the bank beside her. She reached down and killed it, biting hard where the spine should be.

"Oh, so you've been taking trips to RiverClan or something?" Where did she learn how to fish? Last time he checked, fishing wasn't something that was learned regularly. Maybe she had a mentor that lived in RiverClan once or something.

Flintpaw looked back at Stormpaw "From those flea-bags? Never. I taught myself by watching them. Anyway, why should they fatten themselves up while we're left chewing on our own bones." she shrugged. "You know how to fish?" she asked, nodding to the river.

"Obviously not. I don't stare at RiverClan cats all day." Seriously. From what he saw her do, it's like.. some kind of... scooping motion. Yeah. A scooping motion, but, he didn't memorize it well enough to really know exacly what she did.

Flintpaw glared at him again, "Well I didn't want to seem wierd to you." she mewed sarcastically. "Anyway, you just swipe your paw in as soon as the fish you see is about a fox-length away from in front of you. Like this." She looked down, just as a fish was a little to the right of her, swimming downstream. She scooped her paw in and swiped it out. "I'm sure you know how to kill it." she waved her tail to it, waiting for him to kill it.

"Mhm." He thought about this little technique thing, paying more attention to this thought instead of the fish on the bank. So... dip, scoop, and kill. That seemed easy, but... man, fish? Really? He didn't want any fish, the smelly little things. And- His thoughts were cut off when he heard a splash and looked back at the water, and saw as the fish swam away. "Oooooh. Sorry." His voice was less sincere as he might have ment it.

"It's fine. You can make up for it by catching one yourself." Flintpaw looked at him, her gaze niether happy or angry. She faced the river again and held her paw up. She watched carefully and waited until she found another sliver of silver. She reached her paw down, claw extended and flicked it up so that it dug into the fish's scales and caught it on her paw. She lifted it onto the shore and bit it hard on the back. It stopped flopping around.

Hunting With Boredom Empty Re: Hunting With Boredom

Oh, now he had to catch one. Stormpaw looked back into the water. By now, all of the sophisticated fish had left the area, but, there was still that one idiot fish that all the other ones don't like, so none of them will care, not even it's parents. Quickly he scooped his hand into the water, throwing out a fish. But, instead of it actually going on the land like it was supposed to, it just went up in the air and fell back into the water, where it swam away to meet the other smarter fish, to their disappointment. "I missed," he said without care, stating the obvious.

Flintpaw sighed. "You have to bring your paw toward you. As if you were about to hit yourself in the head, like this." She swiped her paw at his head, hard, but not hard enough to hurt him.

Stormpaw ducked under her paw. He didn't want to get hit again. "Fine. I'll try it that way." He looked back in the water. Nothing, he saw nothing. The fish were gone now, escaped somewhere. He didn't want to sit there and wait, but he had the feeling Flintpaw would force him to stay there.

"Well duh," Stormpaw snapped back in reply and stared back into the water. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. This was taking a long time, it really was. He had yet to see anything. No silver no... hue of anything. He couldn't see why RiverClan cats wanted prey that took so long to come around.

Flintpaw rolled her eyes, looking over at Stormpaw. "You're cut out for this kinda stuff. I've seen at least three fish pass here already, are you sure you can see straight?" she asked. Maybe she could take him somewhere else, she had a pretty good idea, maybe he would go for it.

"Shut up, Flintpaw!" He snapped at her. Couldn't she see he was concentrating? He wouldn't be able to catch the fish if she was so loud! It was right there, next to it's little fish buddies, ready to be caught. Eaten? He didn't think so. He focused on the one closer to him. Yes, he could get it, he could get it if he really really aimed for it. A few more seconds... one more... and....

Quickly Stormpaw scooped his paw into the water, dragging out the fish easily. Two in fact! The fish plopped behind him, right in the perfect spot, the other one, on the other side of the river. He laid his paw ontop of the flopping fish and gave Flintpaw a look of superiority.

"I can see two times better." He grinned. A moment later a splash sounded out as the second fish made it's way back into the river where it swam after it's fellow friend who'd rightly ditched it after it's little trip.

Flintpaw grinned, "Beginner's luck." she mewed at him. She kept her eyes on the water, both paws in the air. A moment later, she cut her paws through the air, pounding into the water and scooping out two fat fish. She bit the first quickly and whipped her body toward the other. It was just about to roll back into the water when she caught it on her claws, she brought it to her mouth and crunched on its neck. She looked over to Stormpaw, a winning air to her.
