Snowpaw padded into the withering territory. He noticed that it had gotten even gloomier. It was starting to drizzle a bit. He smelled distant mouse, and headed toward the smell. Hopefully the mouse was decent enough for a kit of DarkClan...

Up above, an eagle searched for his last meal of the day. His harsh amber eyes raked the ground for any sign of food. Down below, a white cat crouched. One would not need bird's vision to see the white tom. Wanting his meal, he dived soundlessly.

Snowpaw could see the mouse. He sighed when he saw the miserable thing. Not even a mouth full. But it was still prey, and DarkClan needed it. Right before the pounce, the mouse looked up to the sky and let out a terrified squeak. Snowpaw thought that he had frightened it, but was wrong as powerful, sharp talons lifted him off the ground. He let out a shriek as he was carried higher and higher. He looked up to see the eyes of an eagle glaring down at him. Snowpaw gulped, waiting for death.

I failed you, DarkClan, mother, father. Were his thoughts.

Suddenly, the eagle screeched and was knocked aside. Looking up, Snowpaw saw that another eagle had attacked his captor. They were fighting for him! Snowpaw looked down and nearly became sick. He was high above ground, above the mountains. Oddly green mountains with trees. Down below he saw a stream.

With another screech, the eagles started to soar downward. The eagle that carried him had become injured. With another squawk, Snowpaw was released and was sent plummeting to the ground. Luckily, Snowpaw landed safely because the eagles had gone closer to the ground. He quickly dashed away, limping a bit.

Hiding under some brambles, he was breathing heavily. Where was he? How far away from DarkClan was he? Would he ever see them again?
