The second kit was finally delivered. Silverfeather picked up the tom more carefully this time and lay it by her belly. She licked the damp sac of it and helped it start breathing. One last kit! She mewed in her mind.

Her neck felt sore keeping her head up, so she reached for a large bundle of moss and rested her head upon it. eyes at half mast, getting tired a lot was annoying.

Last of all a black and white she cat was born. But something was different. The kit was half the size of the others and not breathing. Silverfeather grabbed it abandoning the second kit to suckle and licked it furiously. No! She wailed in her mind. I haven't done all this work for my only female kit to die!

Bramblekit in quick movements rose onto her paws and walked up to the distressed queen. Keeping the other newly born kits close to the queen's stomach while the said queen licked the still kit frantically. Bramblekit watched in concentration, waiting for any chance of help needed.

Creamfur left Crookedkit to sleep, and she raced into the Clearing calling for the Medican Cat to come quickly.
Then she raced back in side and tried to comfourt Silverfeather.

Silverfeather was weeping but the kit suddenly stirred. It's chest was rising and falling very slightly. She keep licking. The kit was breathing finally normally and Silverfeather breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at her three gorguoes (can't spell! -.-) kits. She lay back and felt their small paws pushing her belly softly. Two toms and a she kit. She looked at her mate, her eyes full of exuastion and love.
"Reedkit, Otterkit," She paused thinking of a name for the last one,
"Luckykit?" She mewed.

She licked each kit on their damp heads and rested her tail on each calling their name. She rested her head on her paw beside her kits and closed her eyes relieved the hard birth was finally over.
