Prized Prey

[Goldenstorm]

Barkfur stumbled into the camp with Thunderfeather beside her, dragging the large pheasant with them. They dragged it to the fresh-kill pile and Barkfur released her grip, her jaws throbbing.

"That was.....fun."Thunderfeather grumbled,releasing the prey.

[Goldenstorm]

"Tell me about it..." she collapsed on her side, weariness seeping in. "The eggs! I have to get some eggs I collected for the kits. I'll be back shortly." She left the camp once again, only to return right before dawn with 5 small eggs in her jaws. She walked past her clanmate and padded into the nursery. Pride gleaming in her eyes as she walked out with an empty mouth. "Kits will be happy this morning. They have a small treat to satisfy their bellies today." she took one more glance at the prized prey they had killed and met Thunderfeather's eyes again "I'm going to report the pheasant to Silverstar. Since you helped take it down, I would be happy if you came with me."

Thunderfeather nodded. "Thanks,but no thanks. You found it;you take the credit."

[Goldenstorm]

"I would have never been able to take it down, let alone drag it back to camp, you deserve as much credit as I do."

Blazekit woke up in the morning with the scent of fresh-kill in her nose. She found the camp awake and gathering around the fresh-kill pile. Blazekit stood up and padded to Mistkit. "Wake up, Mistkit! I think the warriors have brought something special!" Then she noticed the eggs, lying in front of the nursery. "EGGS! It was not a dream at all!" Happily she jumped on one of the egg, flicking it on the earth with her paws. As she kicked it up in the air and it came back down it broke and gave the delicious inside to Blazekit. Jummy, she thought. With a mouthfull of egg she turned to Mistkit. "Try one, they're really good!" Then she concentrated back on her egg. In her happiness she had totally forgotten about the big prey that the warriors must have caught.

Mistkit padded out of the nursery,shivering as rain soaked her thin pelt instantly. "Coming!"she called in her quiet tone,racing over. "Can I have one?"she asked,looking up at Barkfur.

Thunderfeather just shook her head. "Really,it's fine. I can make due with no attention." She smiled at her,but it was fake.
