A Mourning Loss

[Riber~]

Echopaw padded, eyes lowered, into camp, Leafsong dragging from her jaws. Her eyes still over-flowed with pain. A sudden weight was pressed on her shoulders. She was the clan medicine cat. She would have to save her clan. I'm not ready! Come back Leafsong! She wailed in her mind. The she-cat lay her mentor in the middle of the clearing, mouth ajar as if to say something. EVentually she mustered up the courage to choke out a few words. "Leafsong was crushed by the Snowstone." Her vopice faltered on the last word. Now not being able to handle looking at her dead mentor, she turned on her heels and ran from the camp, into the forest.

[Lillyflower]

"Echopaw" Lillypaw yowled after the new Medican Cat "come back".

[Cheesles]

Shadowclaw padded into the clearing to see what all the fuss was about. In the middle of the clearing he saw the body of Leafsong. He hurried over and lay down beside the medicine cat. Shadowclaw buried his nose in the medicine cats cold fur and wept.

Shadowclaw was worried. "Would Echopaw be able to help the clan? Has she learnt anough? Does she need help?" His head spun as he thought of the concequinces, the good and the bad.

BlackClaw entered the main clearing from the leader's den where she had been conversing with ShadowStar. He approached ShadowClaw.

"What's all this commotion about?" He sighed with a growl. "Shouldn't you be doing your duties?"

[Riber~]

Echopaw padded slowly back to camp, paws dragging from how emotionally distressed she felt. Closing her optics for a split second, her paws led her into camp, awaiting the curious glances cats gave to her. Her clan needed her right now. Everyone needed her. Avoiding Leafsong's body as much as possible, Echopaw slumped to the leader's den, hoping her leader would listen to what she had to say.

[Cheesles]

Shadowclaw lifted his head to answer Blackclaw.
"Leafsong is dead. Echopaw says she was crushed by the Snowstone!" He lowered his head again as he started to weep.

[Amberstorm]

(Echo, optics is a science, I believe. Yes, optic has something that has to do with the eye, but if you want to put more than one, I think it's opticals.)

[BlackClaw]

BlackClaw was shocked at the news. "LeafPaw? She's...dead?" BlackClaw soon got ahold of himself and took charge of the situation. He turned to the late medicine cat's apprentice, but she was already gone, back in the direction of the camp. "ShadowClaw, you stay here and guard LeafPaw's body. I'll be right back." BlackClaw bolted after EchoPaw.

"EchoPaw!" He yelled. "You go back to LeafPaw. You have to try everything she taught you and try and help her. We're not giving up until we're positive she's gone and ShadowStar was told us to stop." He charged past the new medicine cat and bolted straight into the leader's den where he found his beloved leader.

"Shadow," He panted. "It's LeafPaw. You have to hurry." BlackClaw turned and headed back to where LeafPaw was lying, hearing ShadowClaw's steps following him.

Oakclaw looked down at his paws.A single tear fell on to the ground.Why would Starclan do this?!?

[Riber~]

OOC: Optics is always what I've used; if it isn't right, oh well. It's one word.

Echopaw twitched ehr ears slightly at Shadowclaw's nature. She had to face the facts, Leafsong wasn't coming back. She would never come back. Whirling on him Echopaw snarled "She's dead Shadowclaw. D-E-A-D. Dead. She died immediately when the rocks crushed her." With a stead-fast droop of her tail the she-cat padded away, head lowered.

[Cheesles]

Shadowclaw felt crushed. Although he knew she was a medicine cat, he had liked her. He knew they couldn't be mates or have kits or anything. Because she was a medicine. Shadowclaw wished with all his heart that she didn't die. How he wished he had died. He wished that this was all a dream and that he woud wake up in a heartbeet but it wasn't. No one could go back, no one could change what had happened, no one could prevent Leasongs death. Shadowclaw looked up at Echopaw and mewled quietly but passionetly, something he had never ever said and something Leafsong herself would never hear.
"She may not have been speacial to you but she was speacial to me!" He cried after her then imeadiatly buried his snout in her fur to discise yet another flood of tears.

[Riber~]

Hearing Shadowcla's reply the she-cat whirled around, eyes peirced with harsh anger. How could he say that?! She had just lost her mentor and best friend in this clan! The cat that had been there for her! And he says she didn't care?! Echopaw's tone was an audible tone that echoed throughout the clearing.
"You think she was only special to you?! You think that I don't care Shadowclaw?! She was like my mother!! She was always there for me! But now she's gone and we can't bring her back! How do you think I feel right now?! Doom is coming; and I'm supposed to be strong for this clan. Leafsong was who guided me through that. Now I HAVE NO ONE!"

[Cheesles]

Shadowlaw sprang up. He was filled with rage.
"Why did you say that she was dead in such rude manner? She's dead Shadowclaw. D-E-A-D. Dead. She died immediatly when the stones crushed her!" He said mimicking her.
"Oh and don't you know better than to yell at a senier warrior like me?"

[Amberstorm]

Leafsong watched from StarClan. "Why, StarClan, why did you make me leave them when they need me?" She wailed, watching the terrible scene in RiverClan below. She hated arguements. Expecially if her own apprentice was engaging in them. Echopaw was a medicine cat now, she should know better than to pick fights.
"STOP IT!" She yowled, hoping they would hear her, but she doubted they would.

[Flamestar]

Mountainstar heard meowing. He was near the RiverClan camp! Just where he wanted to be. He ran towards the camp and burst through the entrance. "What happened?" he asked. Then he saw the dead Leafsong. "How did this happened?" he asked. He was very sad at the clan's loss.

Suddenly hadowclaws age towards Echopaw turned to rage against Mountainstar.
"What are you doing here?" He snarled.
"Your not supposed to be here!" He hissed with aggression.

Leafsong hated all this conflict.
"STOP! STARCLAN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" She yowled, almost crying now. "I can't take care of them anymore... why have you done this?" She asked.
