ooc- Well she was 'trying' to sleep. And he came after a little while so she could be sleeping.

Phantompaw smirked, batting off her comments with an imaginary paw. He flopped onto the forest floor, licking his paws before examining a claw, razor-sharp. His reply wasn't quite dark, just bordering on the edge of it. "Being your mentor would be like waiting for a leaf to change into a mouse; pointless and useless. I pity the poor cat who has the privilege to mentor an apprentice such as yourself." Okay, well, he himself wasn't the 'prodigy' apprentice either. He looked up at her through slitted eyes, burning with fire.

"Oh, you're one to talk!" She shot back, her lip curling, on the verge of a snarl.
I don't even have a mentor! She thought, glaring right back at him, her eyes just as fiery. Blue, green, and ember-coloured eyes met. Cherrypaw's claws were peeking out; she was so frustrated with him that she could shred him right then and there.

Riverpaw was confused at the sudden change in mood. Her green eyes watched, unblinking, trying to understand the sudden hostility. Trying to understand Phantompaw as well.

Brightpaw blinked. "Cherrypaw, just forget it." she nudged her friend's shoulder. "Ignore him." she shot an angry glance at Phantompaw.

Cherrypaw stood her ground. The feel of her friend on her shoulder barely moved her, but she let her claws retreat. She didn't like the feel of backing down, but she whipped around anyways. "You're right. Let's go." She mewed to Brightpaw, padding away. Yet, she couldn't push away the sense of disappointment deep inside of her.

Phantompaw stood up, feeling a sense of amusment at how angry Cherrypaw had gotten, and shook out his dark tabby coat. The she-cat apprentice was going off with her bodyguards, apprantly not able to fight her own battles. He narrowed his eyes at her and spun into the darkness of a shaded spot, throwing a glance back at her that dripped in triumph.

Cherrypaw's fur was still on end. She could feel his horrible, smoldering gaze. It was so terrifying, so intriguing. It made her feel like she was being raked by invisible, burning claws, yet falling into a deep, unending pool. But she was still pretty ticked.

This isn't over, Phantompaw. Far from it.
