Chasing After Claykit

[Amberstorm]

Claykit hissed when she figured out that she was being followed. No! I won't get dragged back to camp! Not by another mere kit! She thought quite angrily. She breathed in deeper and gathered more speed. She dove undernieth some brambles and emerged on the other side.
She smelled in the heavenly scent of the river........
Suddenly, a memory came back. She remembered a kit shrieking, and being pushed down the river on a raft of twigs. She shook the memory away and continued on. Her whiskers twitched as she came upon the river, rushing by fast.
Too fast.... her instincts told her. She continued down river until it broke off into another river and got slower.

Rainpaw went even faster, her strides wider and her paws hitting the ground harder. "Claykit!" she called desperately. She slowed down so that she was side by side with the young feline. "What are you doing?"

[Amberstorm]

Claykit's ears flattened. Her anger scared her. She didn't know why she was so angry...
"I'm catching my own fish... like you! And no one's going to stop me!" She spat, small tail giving a jerk, as if she were trying to lash it. She wished that she could get away from Rainkit... Rainkit was ruining everything...
"My mom might be out here, too!" and with that, the chase began again. She twisted and turned, back to the foresty part of RiverClan, then tried to run around to the river again. When she got there, she smelled a foul smell. Her little ears flattened and she hissed, her brown-orange pelt bristling, trying to show that whatever was out there that she wasn't fooled by its.... hidingness.
Suddenly, a huge gray creature with sun golden fur on his head stepped out of the brush, walking so close to the river that he might as well have fallen in.
What a strange creature! She thought. Suddenly, it looked at her and she jumped, putting on her aggressive display again.

His brownish eyes streched wide with suprise as he saw the RiverClan cat.
"What? I knew I'd run into some RiverClanners, but I didn't know it'd be a kit! You're just a kit! What are you doing out here?" He asked, hoping the rest of the patrol would stay behind.

Surprised that the large animal could speak in the same tongue, she answered, oddly calm and unafraid.
"I'm not supposed to be out here... just lookin' for my mom..." She mumbled.

"Oh... what does she look like? I think I can help. Saw a few cats on the way. By the way, I'm Alphonse." He barked, his tail giving a wag.

Suddenly, Claykit's eyes widened.
"What? You think you've seen my mom? Oh, yay! But.... I don't know what she looks like... You see, I never saw her, I don't think."

Alphonse frowned. "I'm sorry; I can't help you... Without a description..." He trailed off. "Well, I better get going..."

A memory came flooding back. She could see an orange paw...
"Wait! She was orange!" Claykit cried.

Alphonse looked up. "Havn't seen her, but I'll keep a look out of her."

"Thanks! And my name's Claykit!" Claykit squeaked.

Rainpaw chased after the kit. She dodged trees and bushes as she realized they were leaving RiverClan territory. "Claykit!" she called. It was dangerous, dusk was falling in. Predators would be coming, owls were known to kill such young cats and foxes might wonder here. "Claykit!" she called again. She sprinted faster and crashed through ferns and bushes in her way. She jumped over a large boulder and landed on her paws, continuing the run without loosing beat. She caught up to Claykit, who was talking to a wolf she'd never seen before. She stepped in front of Claykit and let out a great hiss, her ears flat against her head and her fur puffed out so she looked three times her size. She growled at the unknown canine before speaking. "Leave her be." she snarled.

Alphonse let out a weak chuckle.
"Not doing any harm... I swear.. She just wanted help finding her mom.... She asked me if I'd seen her.... So, I'm leaving now.... Heh, sorry..." Alphonse barked nervously and tried to walk out of RiverClan territory.

"Rainpaw...." Claykit whined. "He was saying that he'd help me find my mom!" She pouted, glaring at Rainpaw.

Rainpaw whipped around, her fangs glistening. "What were you thinking? Can't you see that was a wolf? They eat little things like you." she growled.

[Amberstorm]

Claykit rolled her eyes.
"He wasn't going to eat me. I know what wants to eat me when I see it." She snarled, nostrils flaring, whiskers twitching.
"I don't care how big he is or how scary he is; he's a nice... wolf."

[Goldenstorm]

Rainpaw growled in anger. "He could've killed you. What if he wasn't a...nice wolf." she snarled at the young kit.

[Amberstorm]

Claykit snorted. "Then I obviously run back to camp, or climbed a stinking tree." Then she looked around, as if Rainpaw wasn't there.
"Meh, what if, what if, all of this what if crap. So what about 'what if'? All that matters is that he was a nice wolf, and that he didn't try to hurt me, and that he's going to help me find my mom. Nothing with the words 'what if' before matters. What matters is right now."

Rainpaw looked down at Claykit, "You're trying to find you're mother?" she asked gently. She was always soft on the parents situation.

Claykit looked right at Rainpaw, her amber eyes narrowed.
"Do you know something I don't? Please tell me!" She mewed, ears erect, tail jerking, black claws sinking into the ground. The earth felt cold underneath her pads.

"No, I just didn't know you lost your mother." Rainpaw mewed gently. "Do you know what happened to her?" she sat down in the cold earth, snow covering her fur quickly.

[Amberstorm]

Claykit blinked, and her ears and whiskers twitched.
"Well..." Claykit mewed, "A queen said that a warrior saved me from the river. She said I was on a twig raft. I only remember seeing my mom's paw. It was.. orange." Claykit looked to the side, trying to remember....

"Orange?" Rainpaw repeated. "How old were you?" Rainpaw asked, seeing if she was old enough to remember the queen.

[Amberstorm]

Claykit squeased her amber eyes shut, obviously deep in thought. Then they snapped open again at Rainpaw's question.
"Um.... I think I was three moons.... It was only a moon ago. You don't remember when the RiverClan warrior hauled me from the river?" Claykit cocked her head.

Rainpaw shook her head. "I don't think so. I might've, who was the queen?" Rainpaw tried hard to remember, but she couldn't place a paw on who the orange queen could be.



ooc: am i supposed to remember?

(No, you're not supposed to have ever met an orange queen like her.)

"Well.. the queen was my mom. Unless you're talking about the one that raised me. I never really got her name, actually."

"I'm sorry Claykit. I can't remember ever meeting your queen. I wish I could, I really do. I lost my mom too." Rainpaw looked down at the kit, putting her tail on her shoulder.

[Amberstorm]

Claykit blinked.
"R-really? Do you know how?" Claykit mewed, noticing how black the sky looked. It was almost night time, and the snow was falling again. Her ears flicked a bit uncomfortably when Rainpaw's tail came upon her shoulder, but she ignored it.

Rainpaw nodded. "She was killed by a rogue. I miss her a lot." she mewed, almost a whisper. She shut her eyes and remembered her mother, silver fur long and glistening in moon light. Her blue eyes soft, how Rainpaw missed sleeping with Silverfur.
