Falconswoop sighed and nodded. "Yeah..." he bounded after the apprentices.

Brightpaw had slowed as Mudpaw caught up to her. She turned away as he spoke.

Ferretflight charged after the younger warrior, she sped ahead of him and stopped under a bare hickory tree, well away from their apprentices, but close enough so they could react if something went wrong.

Mudpaw sighed. "well there isn't much i can do but wait." Mudpaw said to himself. "Things tend to heal themselves over time" He walked back toward camp, clearly frustrated because Brightpaw was angry with him. "Why can't things always go well? Why do problems happen? Oh, I only wish they wouldn't!"

Ferretflight rushed up to her apprentice, laying her tail on his shoulder. "It's okay, Mosspaw. She'll be fine in time."

Brightpaw kept walking after Mudpaw left her.
"Why would he say something like that?" she halted, eyes on the ground. "He's my friend........"

Falconswoop stopped beside the other warrior and the apprentice. "Yeah, she'll come around, don't worry." he nudged Mudspaw's shoulder with his paw encouragingly.

"Ferretflight? Where'd you come from?" Mudpaw asked. "And of course she'll be fine, I just wish that she wouldn't get mad in the first place." Mudpaw continued his walk back to camp. "I think I need some time to rest, if that's OK."

"Sure. We'll bring you back if you like. Don't worry about Brightpaw, she just wants to make herself known. Being a kit of a rogue must not be easy after all." Ferretflight continued to soothe the apprentice as if he were her own kit.

Brightpaw slowly made her way to a large puddle not far from her Clanmates. She flopped down, staring into the water at her scarred face. "Is that all I am?" she asked herself. "A worthless fleabag?"

"thanks, Ferretflight. You always know what to say. I think that I'll be fine to get back, you go find Brightpaw, make sure that she's okay." Mudpaw said, "I need my rest anyway." Mudpaw continued his trek back to camp.

Ferretflight quickly tapped Falconswoop on the shoulder to tell him to stop. "Make sure he gets some rest, no more training for him tonight." she advised. "If he gets worse, make sure the Medicine Cat sees him." She rose before he could reply. She sped through the wood, dodging tress and leaping over ferns. She found Brightpaw and simply sat beside her, not saying a word.

Brightpaw acknowledged Ferretflight's presence with a flick of her tail. "......."

Falconswoop nodded and followed Mudpaw back to the camp as Ferretflight headed off.

Ferretflight stifled a sigh. "Brightpaw, Mosspaw ment no harm towards you. I know better than to assume your mother was just some mangy rogue. I knew her well, she was a valiant warrior. You should be proud."

"Yes. She was a rogue, but she would have made a great warrior, fought furiously in battle and somehow always managed to catch the plumpest of prey in the middle of Leaf-Bare. I was proud to have known her, she taught me how to hunt and some things of fighting." Ferretlfight smiled at the horizon, remembering her rogue mentor fondly.
