Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Coalkit lay in the nursery, eyes half closed. He was so bored today! There wasn't much going on at the moment, except for the snow flurries that still fell onto the ground. Why do they even try? He mused. Every time they touch the ground they melt. Why would they want to keep falling? They're losing warriors for nothing. Their leader must be a real mouse-brain.
He got up and poked his head out of the nursery. Just as he suspected, the snow still fell. He narrowed his eyes at them and gave his most threatening growl (which was only as threatening as a piece of dirt falling on his fur), and bared his teeth at each flake. He stopped as he noticed the snow still fell at their slow pace, at mercy to the wind. Why didn't they run? Coalkit easily concluded that these flurries, though foolish in their task, were very brave. They must give everything for their clan... whatever it was. He lifted his ears and grinned. He wanted to be a warrior like that, brave to face everything, but he had a while to go, unfortunately.
Coalkit lifted a paw out and made slashing motions at the snow. He gasped in astonishment, when he saw that, no matter what he did, each little snowflake expertly dodged each blow and fell to their destination on the ground to their inevitable end. It was amazing how they did that, he didn't even know they were watching him! Or did they just sense his movements? It was so strange. He grinned again. Yes, he wanted to be like that too. Able to dodge any attack with ease, and then come back with an attack that was twice as vicious as the one given to him.
His pelt started to prickle. If they were so brave, and they were such great dodgers, how was their fighting! Those little snow cats in SnowClan (as he thought he should call them) were probably the best fighters around! They could probably take out a whole clan at once with a single flick of their snowy tails! They were the strongest cats of all, no doubt!
Coalkit looked up in the sky and watched the snow fall. There were so many of them, hundreds! Thousands! They had so many numbers, so many forces of brave, dodge-everything-with-ease cats to attack with. If these were the warriors, then who knows how many apprentices there are! Or are the apprentices with them now? Coalkit's ears shot up and he smiled as his eyes sparked with an idea. What if they could go find their camp and learn some of their techniques! Then they could be the strongest clan!
Yes! It was perfect! He had to go tell Wolfstar now! With his tail held high he jumped farther out the nursery and made a dash for the leaders den. His pelt stood on end when he felt each little snowflake fall on him. They'd just melt, right? He thought nervously.
Suddenly, a gust of icy wind blew towards him, throwing each snow flurry towards him. Coalkit's eyes widened as he watched them rush towards them. It was an attack! With a wail of fright, Coalkit turned and ran back to the nursery as fast as he could. He urged himself to move faster ad he felt the cold claws of the SnowClan warriors touch his pelt and freeze him on the inside.
He charged forward, eyes closed so he wouldn't have to see the horrifying scowls of the snow cats and face their ice claws. Coalkit jumped into the nursery and as loud as he could, he wailed, "SnowClan is attacking!"

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"What's all the fuss about,Coalkit?"Smoketail rumbled, padding through the middle of the clearing to the nursery. The snow fell on his broad shoulders, melting as soon as they hit his stone-gray fur. "What's this about SnowClan?"
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Coalkit whipped around quickly, startled at Smoketail's mew, but quickly calmed down when he saw his familiar face. "SnowClan! Don't you know! They're the ones that keep attacking the ground! They attacked me!" He pointed out at the snow that still fell to the ground daintily. "They're super cats! They're super brave and super quick and can dodge anything!" He looked around before whispering, "And they can read minds."

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
The big tom purred in amusement. "There is no SnowClan! This is just snow. Stick out your tongue."he mewed, opening his jaws. A snowflake fell on his tongue, melting into water. The deputy smiled at the kit kindly.
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"I know it's snow!" Coalkit snapped. "It's in a clan, duh!" He padded from the nursery entrance and looked at the snow again. "They're here to claim the ground in their territory! But I think it's silly." Caolkit said with a nod. "They melt every time they touch the ground, I think their leader is a big mouse0brain for not calling them back." He still didn't understand why they kept falling and attacking the ground. They couldn't actually do anything if they kept melting like that.
"But they're really really strong!" He pipped up, "and skilled. See?" He swiped at the air again and watched as the snow swirled out of the way. "That's their clan training."

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Smoketail let out a mrrow of laughter. "Well maybe they don't have a leader,"he suggested, playing along with the kit. "Or a deputy or medicine cat. What if they're just cats?"
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Coalkit gasped in shock. How can they not have a leader! Or a medicine cat! Or a deputy!" He looked at the snow with wide eyes, as if he was waiting for them to give him an explanation. "How does a clan work without a leader? Someone has to make sure everyone is doing their job, right!?" He swiped at the snow again, and then tried to catch one under his paw. They moved out of the way every time he tried. "Who heals them? How did they get to be warriors!"

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"Well, they might not be a Clan at all! What if they all are kitypets or rogues?" He put his paw out, swiping at the air. "See,they all run!"he observed, sending the flurries flying away. "But they're confident in their numbers...that's why they keep attacking!"
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"You must be right." Coalkit nodded, but then he tilted his head. "But they must be brave, right? They have to know they'll melt when they hit something, right? And if they'd come anyway, that means their brave. And kittypets aren't brave." He sniffed at the snow, and sneezed as some of the flurries were sucked into his nostrils. He felt chill spark in his nose, and immediately took it as the icy claws of the small snow cats scraping at him. He rubbed his nose with his paws. "They're attacking me again!"

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Smoketail laughed softly. "Well then,Snow Cats,we can't have you attacking our kits!"he growled playfully, lashing out with his paws and sending the snow spiraling away. He leaped and ducked,as though dodging invisible claws.
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"No, Smoketail!" Coalkit wailed. "They'll get you too!" He had to help him before the snow cats killed him. He unsheathed his claws and jumped out in the snow, clawing furiously at the flurries and jumping around, dodging their attacks. He attacked as if he were in a real battle, and he really thought he was!
He yelped when another gust of wind came, sending the flurries towards him at a quick pace. Immediately he wanted to turn and run from the deadly enemies, but he couldn't do that in front of their deputy. He had to be as brave as those small cats.
He jumped up and scrapped at the air, looking almost like he was attacking the belly of a warrior. He fell down with a thump, not landing on his feet as he should have.
Coalkit got up quickly, embarrassment in his eyes and looked around frantically, growling at the little snow cats.

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"Like they could kill a big strong deputy?"Smoketail purred, swishing his tail. He crouched, then leaped high in the air, lashing out with his front paws. Then he used his tail to balance himself, landing neatly on his paws.
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"Whoa! How did you do that!?" Coalkit asked in astonishment. He just fell on his face every time he jumped anywhere. He swiped absentmindedly at the snow cats, almost completely forgetting about them. He wanted to learn how to do that.

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"Use your tail to balance yourself in mid-air."Smoketail mewed. "It's quite simple, really." But then again....his tail was at least a tail-length longer than most cats'.
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Caolkit jumped in the air, and tried to balance himself with his tail, but just then he realized he didn't know how to do that. He fell to the ground again, falling clumsily, his paws in the air and his back on the ground.
His growled in frustration, and quickly got to his paws. "How do i balance myself?"

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
"Wave your tail, then balance your weight into your front paws. When you hit the ground, focus your weight in your haunches."Smoketail mewed. "Try it on the ground first."
Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Coalkit waved his tail and then tried to balance himself. He didn't feel like he was actually doing anything. Not at all, actually. It felt like he was just standing there waving his tail around. "I... I don't think I'm doing anything."

Re: Doin' absoltely nofin'.
Smoketail sighed. "Like this." He crouched so his haunches were in the air,and he waved his tail quickly. Then,as though he'd suddenly spotted a piece of prey or was anticipating an enemy's attack,he stood on his back paws, several times taller than he had been.
