Malicious intent in the shadow of the Gathering. (closed until Yarrowsprout dies)

Yarrowsprout walk through the forest of DarkClan. He was alert, his head darting every direction when he heard a simply sound or scutter. It was true, he was afraid, nervous to his highest peak. His breathing was unsteady, and his mind raced at every possibility outcome of this night.

Tonight was the night of the Gathering. The full moon set high in the sky, and most of the cats from each clan were preoccupied with the news of the other clans. No one would expect an attack at this time, or not even a little... vandalism?

Yes, Yarrowsprout was on a solo mission to sabotage DarkClan. He didn't know what he was going to do. Storm the camp? No, he'll just be killed by the remaining cats. Maybe he'll do something small... like kill the prey like those DarkClan scum did to theirs.

This cat was none other than a WindClan cat. One so focused on the abominations that were DarkClan cats and their misdeeds. He was bent on destroying them, and he'd do all he could to try, even put his life at the greatest of risks.

But... had he not realized? if this all went down hill and he was caught, his clan would not doubt pay the price. Oh, he did in fact think about this possibility. He didn't care though, the outcome was all worth it. He would have done something for the clan.

Yarrowsprout jumped and let out a yowl of pure terror when suddenly birds shot from the bushes at his presence. He trembled and his heart pounded. Maybe he wasn't cut out for this, but he'd try. He had to. But what if someone heard and went to check? It was likely, very likely.

Quickly he jumped into the bush the birds flew from and hid himself. It was useless though, his WindClan scent was pungent. Behind the bush, at the corner of his eye, Yarrowsprout caught glimpse of the bloodied bones of a mouse, the head still attached and barely touched. Those must have been passing hawks he scared off, and they were in the middle of their dinner.

Less prey for DarkClan, he supposed.

Spiderfang had left the Gathering early,tired of hearing the bumbling idiots of other leaders speak about how prey was scarce and how strong their Clans were. Pfft. DarkClan was almost stronger than ThunderClan by now. They could easily take over WindClan,and then move on from there. So deep in thought,she was startled when she smelled something familiar. Filthy WindClan!she snarled silently,stalking towards the scent with hatred burning in her belly. The massive she-cat grinned,exposing the two unusually long canine teeth that just jutted out from her lips. She would enjoy torturing this cat,and she could almost taste the warm blood flowing down her throat.

Yarrowsprout looked around slowly. Nothing, nothing at all. He didn't see a single cat in sight, he couldn't hear them either, he didn't even get a whiff, though, that was not very surprising since the stench of these cats were so mixed and foul that it was hard for him to tell from a tree and a mouse.

Slowly, and with a shaking paw, he started to make his way out of the bush. He pulled himself all the way out, his eyes wary and afraid. Nothing still. He let out a grunt and grinned.

"Ha!" Yarrowsprout said aloud, getting too confident for his own good. "These mangy pieces of fox-dung can't even-" He cut himself off as, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a figure. Quickly he turned his head and saw the unwelcoming face of Spiderfang, his old clanmate.

Like it was weighed down by boulders, Yarrowsprout's tail fell from it's high point. His eyes widened and his ears fell back. Fear, terror, horror, all those emotions were inside off him and it fell off like waves.

His heart pounded so loudly he though his ears would bleed from the intensity. He immediately regretted coming here, but he pushed the though away, he was going to do this.

With all his might, Yarrowsprout tried to make his fur lie flat, but unfortunately, they weren't agreeing. It was like they were all small beings and they wanted to see every moment of this like it was some form of entertainment. He almost felt betrayed by his own fur.

"S-Spiderfang?" He asked her, already knowing the answer. His voice trembled and he desperately tried to think of a solution to this problem, but he couldn't think, couldn't react. He had even forgotten to unsheathe his claws.

Spiderfang's smile widened,so that her fangs showed more clearly,and she tipped her head to one side. "Oh,so you remember me,eh?"she sneered,her claws flashing out. The huge she-cat stepped forwards,but her body was relaxed,looking like she wouldn't attack. Her amber eyes gleamed with pleasure and hatred,and she snickered at the terrified expression on the warrior's face. "No matter. You'll be dead soon,anyway."

It was eerie, it was frightening, it was like a horror show. Before him was the cat that had made a permanent mark in the clan. Spiderfang: The murderer. She had supposedly killed Gorgepaw and Dovetail, one of his best friends in the clan. What appalled him most was how it was her own apprentice. He had never had an apprentice of his own, but he didn't think, no matter what the apprentice did, there would be a good reason to kill them. There was supposed to be a bond made between mentor and apprentice, so, where did Spiderfang's and Gorgepaw's run off to?

Yarrowsprout shook his head. No, now wasn't the time to think about that. He was just scaring himself, and scaring himself good. The influence of Spiderfang, this mere are, was making him shake so violently that all his fur could fall off from the force.

A shiver went up his spine. She said it... she said he'd be dead. Her goal was to kill him. Would she succeed? He hoped not. And her voice. It was so evil, so dark, so full of unrivaled hatred.

Hatred. She hated him, she really hated him. Back then he was her friend, he even though of her as a best friend along with Dovetail and Gorgepaw. Now that friendship seemed to have crumbled. Even after all that had happened to her, the accusations, everything, even the battles he saw her in when they had to fight DarkClan, he never truly hated her. He was just angry at her.

Nothing that had happened before seemed to be in Spiderfang's mind or memory, none of it. It scared him and made his blood run cold, the intensity of it all.

"Y-You w-would.... You would really k-kill me?" Yarrowsprout said to her, but mostly to himself.

Spiderfang stepped forwards again,smile unwavering. "But of course. Even when I told you I was innocent,you still didn't believe me and I got thrown out of WindClan."she said in a voice as smooth and sweet as honey. "Friendship doesn't matter anymore. It only brings pain." Her tail twitched,and she seemed to crouch,but no one could really tell,as her pelt was darker than midnight without as moon or stars. The only thing that Yarrowsprout would be able to see was her gleaming amber eyes,and she snickered,feeling revenge well deep inside her. She took yet another step forwards. She was close enough to pounce on the WindClan cat,but she chose to toy with him instead.

"I didn't believe it, I just..." Yarrowsprout trailed off. What could he say? He remembered those days well, and they had hurt him, now they haunted him every day and night since the first attack.

He had believed her fully when she told him that she wasn't guilty, but even that he still snarled at her and acted as if she was some kind of monster, and abomination, accusing her like his fellow clanmates. Why had he done it? He didn't know, he couldn't explain it. Everything was just so confusing at that time. She said no, but everyone said yes. He didn't know what to believe, and it made him afraid. He was afraid of the small possibility that she had done it, and how would his clanmates react if he had sided with her? Would he have been shunned as well? Would he be out here in DarkClan with Spiderfang, resenting everything about cats of the same blood?

He had felt cornered in the whole decision, he felt like he was pushed into his own actions and forced to say every cruel word he so dared to utter to her. There was a perfect reason for it, it was the right thing to do, right? No. No matter how much he thought about it he could actually find a reason to say it was "the right decision".

Yarrowsprout squinted as he watched Spiderfang. He saw her move, but he didn't know what she was doing. It looked as though she was still standing in front of him. It was so hard to see in these woods. They were just too dark, too unwelcoming. It all unnerved him, these trees doing most of the job, he wasn't used to them. Though, above all, Spiderfang was the one that was making this moment truly uncomfortable.

He stepped back when Spiderfang moved forward. Yarrowsprout took a quick glance behind him to see a tree right behind him. He didn't have many paces before he was cornered.

"What happened to you? You used to be s-so... d-different."

[Naruto]

"Hatred can do a lot to a cat."Spiderfang hissed,her tail swishing. She stalked forwards again,standing so that she was right in front of Yarrowsprout. "If you manage to live,tell Wolfstar and the rest of those flea bags that I will never forgive them."she snarled,her voice deep and menacing. She lifted one massive paw and swiped at the warrior,putting slight strength into the blow.

Yarrowsprout stood stiff and afraid as he stared right at Spiderfang. She was so close to him, and he couldn't do a thing. He was so confused, so afraid, and his mind was clouded so much that still, even at this distance, not even the thought to let out his claws went through his mind.

Suddenly he felt a force hit him on the side of his head and knock him over onto the ground. He lay on the ground, dazed. What did he just get hit by? A paw of course, Spiderfang's, she had finally chosen to attack him.

His eyes widened as he quickly stood up, and, finally, unsheathed his claws. He didn't know what he'd do though, he just stood there and stared at her, full of fear.

"C-can... you forgive me?" He didn't know why he asked that, it was almost blurted out. But he just had to know.

[Naruto]

"Say hello to StarClan for me."Spiderfang snarled,leaping at the weaker tom and lunging at his throat. That pretty much answered his question,no? The long,silvery scar over her eye gleamed faintly in the flash of light from a lightning strike.

To Yarrowsprout, the world seem to stop completely. She didn't care, not at all. He had betrayed her, and she didn't give him an ounce of forgiveness. Who could blame her? He had basically ruined her life, and even with every cat believing the same thing, he could have made some difference. He wished he had left with her now. The days of being in WindClan hadn't been the same when she left. Nothing was as... exciting. And everything only went down hill from there.

Yarrowsprout's mind was only focused on one thing; completely unaware of Spiderfang's incoming attack. The only thing he could see was her still standing in front of him, her eyes full of hatred.

He was caught by surprise when pain shot through him and he fell to the ground. He felt constricted, and he had no idea why. He looked down and saw Spiderfang, he jaws clamped around his neck. A death blow.

Yarrowsprout's eyes widened. She had him by the neck! It was almost unbelievable. He tried to breath, as a test, but no sound escaped his jaws and no air filled his lungs. He could feel the need to breath coming on. he couldn't sit like this for much longer.

Wildly he thrashed about. Slashing his claws at anything, and everything. Unfortunately, he felt nothing sink into his claws, just the thin air all around him, the air that refused to let him live.

Yarrowsprout felt his lungs tighten with the need to be allowed to capture air. He felt his energy starting to ebb by the second. He tried to focus himself, and turn his attention to Spiderfang. He had to get her off. He slashed at her side, trying to get her away from him. Unfortunately, what seemed like mad, powerful attacks to him, would only feel like the batter of unsheathed claws for Spiderfang. A batter that only got weaker as the grueling seconds went by.

It felt like moons, lifetimes for Yarrowsprout as he lurched and struggled to free himself. Though, unknown to him, his struggles just made it worse, and made the process more torture than a simple kill.

Soon his feeble attacks started to cease. His battering became less frequent and less powerful. He watched as his paws fell to the ground, the energy gone from them, he was going to die, he knew it, there was no escape at this point, there was no hope.

His vision beginning to fade, Yarrowsprout looked into Spiderfang's amber eyes. His green ones filled with sorrow and apology. His pelt bristled as his vision faded to black, and he gave one more small, weak struggle, before finally going completely limp and his fur lying flat again.

He was dead, suffocated by that cat that he would, even now, still call a friend. His soul wiped from this world and ultimately from existence. It's destination StarClan, a place that he couldn't even hope or wish to see Spiderfang in one day, he knew she'd never go when she died as well...

Spiderfang released her grip on the tom's throat,staring at him with cold eyes. "Maybe that will teach WindClan to be afraid of us,"she snarled softly,her giant paws covered in blood. She sheathed her claws and swiped her tongue around her jaws once,tasting the salty tang of blood.

"You seemed to have some fun," Featherstream commented as she walked over to Spiderfang. She looked down at the lifeless body of Yarrrowsprout. Foolish WindClan warrior, thinking he could even set foot in this territory without running into trouble. He got what was coming to him.

"So, if you want them to be afraid," Featherstream started, "how will you get the message out?"

[Naruto]

Spiderfang looked up at Featherstream,her eyes gleaming with pale fire. "I'm going to leave this body on the border,with my scent all over it. Yarrowthorn was a strong warrior;If it hadn't been me,he wouldn't have been so easily defeated."she growled,flicking her tail and glaring across the DarkClan border.

Featherstream nodded. That seemed like a plausible idea. "I hope it was you," she replied, "from the looks of the whole thing, it looked like he was positively scared out of his wits." The raids on WindClan done so far would be pointless if that were the kind of warriors they had. They'd kill themselves off! Luckily, they got the good one.... or decent one.

Spiderfang growled. "Yeah. I guess you could say they don't favor me in WindClan." She sat down for a moment and licked the blood off her paws,her eyes glinting. "What he hoped to accomplish here I'm not sure,but he was in our territory so I killed him."

"Well, this will hopefully show them that coming for unnamed goals isn't a good idea." Featherpaw grunted. She hoped they wouldn't get more of these cats out here. She already threw one cat in the river she didn't want to be bothered to throw more. "You need help hauling him?"

[Naruto]

"Nah."Spiderfang growled,flexing her shoulders. "If there's a border patrol-"she cut herself off. She would probably attack them,too. She grabbed Yarrowsprout by his scruff and started to pull him towards the border.

"I see," Featherstream said with a smirk. Spiderfang seemed to have all of this taken care of, yes yes. "Well, I better try finding more dry herbs instead of watching fights." She turned and started to make her way from where she came. Looking back as she walked, Featherstream said one last thing. "Good work, and to think you were nearly useless before." She padded on and disappeared in the woods (or forest, whichever).

Spiderfang felt a smirk on her face and she dragged the body towards the border,passing by ferns drooping with water and tiny insects trying to find somewhere dry to live. She stopped at the border leading out of DarkClan,her black pelt shining in the faint light of the moon peeking between storm clouds. This was her first kill as a DarkClan cat. WindClan would be shaking out of their fur. She crossed the border,heading across what was FireClan territory over to WindClan,where she lay Yarrowsprout carefully on the border,making sure her scent was wreathed around him. She grinned and ran off the other way,her long legs propelling her forwards so that she reached camp in a matter of moments. When the rest of the DarkClan patrol came back from the Gathering,they would see the body with her fur between it's claws and her scent all about. As well as WindClan and WolfClan.
