Shadowstar took her place at the top of the rock, and yowled loudly to gather the cats. "One of our fine young cats is about to earn her apprenticeship!" she called, the chilled wind ruffling her thick dark pelt. "Rainpaw, it is time for you to gain a mentor." I apologise for forgetting... Shadow thought to herself, "And ShadowClaw, the time has come for you to train another Riverclan warrior in strength, speed, wisdom...Good luck and may StarClan be with you both" Shadowstar smiled, flicking her tail.
She descended for a few minutes to touch noses with the cats, but sighed and headed back up to the top to make her next, and dreaded announcement. It was time to decide who would go to which clan to tell of the warning from StarClan.

Shadowclaw bent down and proudly touched noses with his new apprentice. This one he would train to be strong and loyal.

The clearing was empty and only Shadowclaw and Rainpaw were left. "Tommorow we start my fighting training. Then after that, we can explore the territories and you can teach me to hunt. I already know a bit, when I was four moons old, I caught a large trout, it was enough fish to fill 3 cats!" Rainpaw boasted. She was headstrong, and she already knew what she would do next. Her mentor could not do otherwise. She wouldn't let him, Rainpaw couldn't imagine actually taking orders from anyone except her mother, Shadowclaw would have to live with it.
