Mudpies! 8D

[Snigger]

A dappled blur zipped in through the entrance of camp. The ever constant rain had her multicolored fur permanently plastered to her sides. A meek mouse hung limply in the apprentice’s jaws. Soulpaw padded over to the tiny fresh kill pile and dropped her lone mouse. She sighed, it wasn’t even a good meal for a kit. At least it was prey though, she shouldn’t be complaining. Even though her belly was growling she didn’t take any prey for herself. She didn’t know where Blazesong or Joypaw was so she had gone hunting to pass the time. There was nothing to do except go on another wet hunting trip or sit around camp. She padded a little ways away and sat down in the mud. Everything was so wet and muddy and nasty she expected everyone to turn into RiverClan. She looked down at her paws. They were halfway submerged in the mud and the white area of her fur had a nasty brown tinge. She could see her ribs poking out of her pelt. This was the effect of all the rain. She’d probably try and give herself a good lick tonight, if she had the energy that is. She sighed and slumped her shoulders. Would the suffering ever end or were they all doomed to die of starvation?

Melodypaw slumped beside Soulpaw. All the hope, enthusiasm and persistence seemed to vanish from her green eyes. "Hey," She mewed and blinked as pain stabbed her stomach. She smiled trying to hide her pain. She looked down and closed her eyes and pain flashed through her.

She grabbed a scrawny mouse from the fresh kill pile right beside them. Melody hoped that food would ease her pain. But as she bit into the prey, she wasn't as hungry as she thought. But she forced herself to finish what she had started.

The meat was stringy, cold and hard. She finished as much as she could in three bites before scraping the remnants into whole behind a boulder. She padded back to Soulpaw. Melodypaw grinned as more pain streaked through her stomach.

"Hi, guys!" Sunpaw meowed, his fur fluffed up. He padded out of the apprentices' den and into the rain. "How's life?"
