First Sight

[Swiftfire the nz Pac-man]

Cherryheart padded out of the warriors den, into the rain. She felt so alone. She needed someone to be there.

[Bumblebee~*]

Thistleclaw padded blindly around the clearing. He could barely see in front of him, but he felt restless, and he found it hard to breathe. He sighed and headed for the warrior den, but a tortoiseshell pelt caught his eye. Cherrykit? He thought, his heart pounding louder and louder. He hadn't seen his sister for over a season! He was about to call her name, but as he blinked, he realized it wasn't her after all, but a beautiful, long-furred tortoiseshell and white she-cat. Her fur was being soaked by the rain, and she looked so... alone. And as if something was drawing him to her, Thistleclaw padded up to her, words catching in his throat. "Er, hey, Cherryk-" He stammered. Lost in his thoughts, he had completely forgotten her name.

"Cherryheart," she sighed, turning to see who it was. When she saw that it was Thistleclaw, her eyes lit up. "Hello, Thistleclaw."

[Bumblebee~*]

Thistleclaw stared at her, his heart thumping. "Cherry... heart." He said breathlessly. Even their names are similar! He thought wildly. "So... how are you?" He asked, flicking her shoulder playfully with his tail to break the ice.

[Swiftfire the nz Pac-man]

"It's really strange. I just feel... well, empty I guess." She meowed sadly. She shook off the sadness and looked into Thistleclaw's eyes.

[Bumblebee~*]

Thistleclaw felt a pang in his heart, like a thorn piercing it, as his green eyes gazed back into her sorrowful blue ones. He had felt the same way when he ran away from FireClan because he didn't want to leave his old life. Maybe he was scared, or just upset. Either way, he never saw his sister again. "I know what you mean." He mewed gently. "But it'll be all right, you'll see." He smiled and sat down next to her, his flank just brushing her's.

Cherryheart breathed in Thistleclaw's familiar scent. As she did, she realised that she didn't feel so alone anymore.

[Bumblebee~*]

The sleek brown warrior looked at the gentle tortoiseshell out of the corner of his eye. As he breathed in her sweet scent, he felt himself flush from his ears to the tips of each thorn-sharp claw. He studied his paws to distract himself, watching each hair on his pelt grow darker with the relentless rain. He tried to remember what he was going to do, but every time he was on the verge of remembering, thoughts of Cherryheart invaded instead.

Cherryheart's spine tingled, not just from the rain, but also from her love for Thistleclaw. She couldn't stop thinking about him. She blurted out, "Do you want to go hunting?"
Cherryheart wasn't sure what made her say it. She just felt the urge to be with Thistleclaw.

[Bumblebee~*]

He blinked in surprise at her outburst, but then he felt himself fill up with pleasure from her words. "Sure!" He replied, getting up and shaking most of the rain from his fur. Not even the dark grey sky and pelting rain could drench the warm, happy feeling that spread through him.

Cherryheart started to pad out of the camp and into the woods beyond.

Thistleclaw followed her, her pelt like a beacon in the pouring rain.
