Waiting for Brightpaw

[Mosspaw]

Mudpaw walked out to the main cave, then sat down outside the Apprentices Cave. "Now it's time to wait" he thought to himself. "I don't want to speak to Brightpaw in front of a lot of cats." {U cant hear him} He waited outside the Apprentices Den for Brightpaw.

[DOCTA OCTAGONAPUS]

Brightpaw had eventually dozed off and woke up again. She yawned and left the den, brushing past Mudpaw, ignoring him almost completely, toward the fresh-kill pie.

[Mosspaw]

Mudpaw padded after Brightpaw, "Look, Brightpaw, I'm sorry for what I said. Will you please forgive me?" He tried to meet Brightpaws glance, but he couldn't. "I understand that you probably hate me right now, but look; I never wanted to hurt you. You probably hate me, but please know, I'll never hate you no matter what."

[DOCTA OCTAGONAPUS]

Brightpaw paused after picking up a vole from the pile and glared at Mudpaw. She turned away in silence, heading toward a patch of sun across the clearing.

[Mosspaw]

Mudpaw stopped and picked up a rabbit from the fresh-kill pile"so she does hate me." he muttered. Mudpaw walked to the cave entrance, then sat down outside, a few foxlengths from the entrance. He looked up at the sky, then took a few mouthfuls of his rabbit. "what was I thinking?"

Brightpaw nibbled her vole, not really eating any of it. She glanced over at Mudpaw, twitching her tail. She pulled herself to her paws with a sigh, padded over to the apprentice. Okay, maybe she was being a little mean. But...but that doesn't mean what Mudpaw said was right.
...right?

[Mosspaw]

Mudpaw looked over at Brightpaw. "Hi there" He said, heart lifting some. Mudpaw wondered if she had forgiven him, then took another bite of his rabbit. He looked back up at the sky. "again, I'm sorry for what I said. I know I was wrong to say that." He looked up at Brightpaw, "Will you forgive me?"

[DOCTA OCTAGONAPUS]

Brightpaw hesitated, staring at her paws. Lifting her gaze, she murmured, "I forgive you..." she settled beside him. "Just don't do it again," she said.

"Thanks" Mudpaw said, finishing off his rabbit in a few more bites. "Want to go hunting?" changing the subject, and glad that he did. He could only hope that Brightpaw would say yes.

Brightpaw sprang forward into the trees, a nonverbal answer. She lifted her nose as she bounded, scenting prey all around.

Mosspaw followed swiftly and silently, hoping to outdo Brightpaw this time.

Ferretflight had been watching. Good, that problem's fixed. She grabbed a small piece of fresh-kill and started eating.
