Eaglekit Has Feelings Too

The rain had eased off as the dawn light grew stronger, throwing the world into a misty show of light and color. A lone cat stalked through the forest, he was enjoying the feel of the cool dew beneath his paws. Do I really love her? The question hung at the back of his mind. I do love her. The answer was curt. He knew that he loved her. He loved Joypaw a lot, he always had since the first time he had ever seen her, although he hadn't known it then. The fight with Darkkit had brought it all to the surface.

Eaglekit trekked through the trees, still slightly troubled by his revelation. The fire in Darkkit eyes while they had fought.. Did he love her too?

[Bumblebee~*]

A silver form hared down the hill blindly, stumbling over rocks, slipping on mud, and stumbling, painfully twisting a paw, but never stopping. Joypaw felt as if she's finally broken down the walls around her, only to find the world outside was crueler than she'd ever thought possible.

She didn't pause to rest her injured paw, and as tall stalks of grass whipped at her face, she grimaced but pulled on. I deserve this, I deserve this... A sharp rock lodged itself in one of her pads, and she bit back a yowl of pain. She stumbled and went careening down the hill, finally coming to a crash, slamming into something solid and a fair size bigger than her.

"Joypaw, what are you- oof!" With a thud Joypaw landed on top of him, flattening him against the muddy ground. He smiled and blushed as he half-heartedly tried to get out from under her. His demeanor quickly changed when he noticed the sad and confused expression on her face. "What's the matter?"

[Bumblebee~*]

Joypaw moaned and got up, noticing the rock in her pad had fallen out, but was now bleeding a soft and steady trickle of red. She licked it gingerly and put it down again, turning to face Eaglekit. She opened her mouth to say something, but quickly shut it again as she looked at him. She felt her heart twist a little. She realized that she couldn't bring herself to tell him. So instead, she gave him a weak smile.

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it."

[Cheesles]

"Joypaw?" Darkkit mewed, bounding after her. He watched as she slipped, twisting her paw and continueosly cutting her padson rocks.

Darkkit. "Can't you find something better to do than to bother me all day," Eaglekit muttered darkly. His tone softened as he spoke to Joypaw, "Alright." He knew how it felt to be pressed for answers that he didn't want to give. He stared into her hazel eyes, he was almost sure that something was bothering her. The world seemed eerily dark as clouds came and covered the sun. It would probably rain again.

[Bumblebee~*]

Joypaw's eyes darkened and the feeling in her heart grew stronger as Darkkit appeared. The clouds above were crawling ominously back to cover up the sky once more. Sucking in a breath, she looked at Darkkit, who had apparently been watching her roll unceremoniously down the hill. She felt her ears burn with embarrassment as she looked down and kneaded the ground anxiously with her paws.

Without thinking Eaglekit brushed his tail over Joypaw's paw. "That looked like it hurt. Do you want me to go back to camp and get something for it?" He instantly regretted saying anything, just because he cared for her doesn't mean that she'd want him to. He sighed inwardly. He remembered the first time he'd ever talked to her. Back before the earthquake, they were both 'kits then. It had all been simple, there had been no real feelings laid out to be stepped on. A soft breeze stirred his whiskers. The smell of rain was almost overwhelming.

A claw of lightning ripped across the sky, the clouds bled out rain. Not hard rain, but a nice spring mist. The air was thick with mingling scents; rain, flowers, prey... and the sweet scent of Joypaw.

[Snigger]

OOC: You know who has feelings too? Soulpaw. You know, dappled apprentice, green eyes, about the same size as you three. Left her out in the rain to get soaked.

Soulpaw bounded through the forest, following a very faint scent of Joypaw. She thought if she even unfocused for a heartbeat the smell would disappear. She saw a shape bundling down a hill and she recognized it as Joypaw. She picked up the pace and slid next to her hurt friend. "Are you alright?" she asked breathless. Then she tilted her head and inquired, "What is up with you three?"

OOC: Sorry. I think your mentor wanted you though. X3

Joypaw smiled and turned to Eaglekit. "It's fine, I just scraped it a little." She kneaded the cool mud under her injured paw and let the coldness of it seep in. She gave a sighed satisfactorily and averted her gaze from Eaglekit, as if looking at him would reveal her feelings towards him.

Luckily, Soulpaw came right at that moment. Purring, she touched noses with her friend. "I'm sorry we left... I had to find.... Darkkit," She nearly choked on his name, "and the storm was coming." She pulled away and gave what she hoped was a reassuring smile to the dappled apprentice. "I'll be fine." She said, not really wanting to answer her second question.

Frowing a little, Eaglekit looked towards Soulpaw. Joypaw doesn't even want to look at me. Soulpaw was soaked, and she really didn't look happy. "I'm sorry," he felt the skin underneath his fur turn red. I had forgotten completely about her. He felt bad. The fight and Joypaw had been the only thing on his mind. "We... just got caught up in some things, it's no big deal. I think I'd better get back to camp, Frostkit will have my whiskers when she finds out what I've been doing." He really didn't want to leave yet, but if he were gone for too much longer.. With a shake of his head he padded slowly as he could back to camp. Is she watching me go? He fought the urge to look back over his shoulder. Probably not.

Instead of going to camp like he thought he would his paws took him slightly northward of camp. He knew he was going the wrong way, but going to camp now would just be... strange. The forest seemed to thicken as he went, making it even darker. It was strange that he had never been seen this place before, he was sure he would have remembered a place as odd as this.
The sounds of chirping insects blotted out the already quiet rain until it was altogether unexistant. He came upon a small clearing, the perfect place to sit down and think for awhile. Fireflies danced through the air as he tried to think straight. He loved Joypaw, plain and simple. Did she love him? He didn't think so. The biggest question on his mind was why did it matter so much to him?

OOC: Can't joypaw like darkkit for just a little longer? Jeez... And don't skite kiwi.

Don't leave... She wanted to say to Eaglekit, but it was no use; he'd already padded off, his tail slightly drooped. She couldn't even say anything, for the words would disappear in her mind as soon as they appeared. Feeling like her heart was about to explode, she turned to Soulpaw. "I-I'm sorry... I'll explain later..." She darted away and into the trees, not caring where she ended up.

Further and further into the forest she ran, a low wail building in her throat. She stopped at a tree, letting out a loud yowl of anguish and frustration, lashing her claws out at the bark, pieces of the dark brown, soaked wood coming off easily. Sobbing, she collapsed to the ground. Why is this happening to me? Of all the she-cats to be in this predicament... why me?

She sniffed and padded away from the torn-up pine. Her legs were trembling with exhaustion as she stumbled blindly into a clearing to rest, fireflies dancing to a silent rhythm and lighting the way as she fell to the floor in a heap, wanting to fall asleep and never wake up.

Thud! Someone fell to the ground near where Eaglekit lay. Without looking or scenting to see who it was he began to get up. "I'm sorry. I'll get back to camp no-" He felt a smile twitch on his lips as he spun around and saw the indistinct form of Joypaw. The grin quickly dissapeared when he saw her state. I knew something was wrong. "What's the matter?" he mewed quietly.

[Bumblebee~*]

Joypaw felt her eyelids grow heavy with tiredness. She barely registered that she had somehow found her way to Eaglekit again. "Eaglekit?" She let the tiniest of grins find its way onto her face, glad that she was turned away from him.

"I'm just... nothing, I must be tired from falling..." She mumbled, the words dissolving on her tongue. She was aching with exhaustion, but not the least bit sleepy, and her slight form shook as she shivered from her damp pelt.

OOC: I have no muse and a whole lotta crappy posts. XD

"Tired from falling..? Oh-Okay.." She wasn't making very much sense, but he didn't mind in the slightest. She seemed as if she wanted to sleep, but he didn't want to leave her alone out here. He flinched as a shiver racked her pelt. Blushing through his thick fur he strode up next to her. "You're cold," he said curtly. "You could get sick."

[Bumblebee~*]

"Get... sick...?" Sickness was the last thing on her mind. It seemed so far away, so unimportant. But with a sneeze and another shiver, she murmured, "Maybe..." She gaped her jaws in a huge yawn, which was quickly interrupted by yet another round of shivering. She curled up into a tighter ball, her tail wrapped over her nose.

OOC: They're just getting worse and worse... XD

Eaglekit shuffled closer until he was brushing pelts with her. He wanted to say something like, 'I'll keep you warm', or something to that effect but no words came. He didn't feel that cold as much, his thick long pelt kept him warm.

Joypaw heard a soft rustling noise, but decided to keep her head down. She felt Eaglekit's pelt brushing against her's, and the fur along her side tingled. No... he's just being a good friend. Why would he like me, anyways? Letting out a soft sigh, she snuggled a little closer anyways; she was freezing, but that wasn't the full reason...

If only he knew.

Eaglekit, caught in the moment, let out a loud purr. Fireflies danced to a silent song as the pair snuggled closer. "I- Joypaw..." he was lost for words. "Joypaw I... really like you." The words flooded out before he fully realized what he was saying. He couldn't bring himself to ask her if she felt the same. Looking down, his fur hot with embarresment, he sighed.

OOC: This post is kind of a fail.. EDIT: Love is such a strong word maan, changed it.

OOC: Time to ruin the love fest X3

Soulpaw stood in the rain and let the water drip through her pelt. This is what happens when kits are in the forest. They weren't much younger than her, true, but they still didn't have their apprentice names. After a few minutes she dashed off through the storm following the already faded scent trail. She sloshed through the water and mud that slowed her down. She saw too heaps of fur on the ground ahead and realized who it was. "Joypaw! Eaglekit!" she cried, worry heavy in her tone. She walked over to them and let out a relived sigh when she was sure they were alright. She sat down next to Joypaw and pressed her dappled fur into her friend's. "Joypaw we should go find Blazesong and go hunting, alright? Maybe it'll warm us up," she suggested to her friend. She looked over at Eaglekit and said strongly, "And you should go back to camp. Now." He wasn't supposed to be out here and she knew that they would get in trouble once they got back to camp. It would be better if he didn't stay out here and get sick, too.

Eaglekit jumped a little at Soulpaw's voice. His voice wavered
slightly as he replied, "Yeah, I should probably go." With a quick goodbye nod at both Soulpaw and Joypaw he raced back towards camp. Frostkit will probably kill me when she finds out what I've been doing. And how am I supposed to explain these cuts that Darkkit gave me? Darkkit. Just the thought of the big dark tom made him angry.

[Bumblebee~*]

Joypaw got up quickly when he said that, completely stunned. Did he just...? "Eaglekit... I d-" Her response was cut off as Soulpaw arrived. "Soulpaw." She greeted her friend, smiling shakily and pressing back. "Yeah, you're right. L-let's go." She turned to Eaglekit to mutter an apology, but his back was turned and he was already a long way off. She sighed, "Come on, let's go." She flicked her tail and stared at her dappled frend, wondering if she could see past her eyes and into the tangle of problems that lay deep within her.

OOC: If she could, that would be so freakin' CREEPY. XD
