Taking on the impossible Empty Taking on the impossible

Blood poured down brown fur, wounds stung on black. Amber eyes gazed at furious yellow orbs, calmly studding the creature. A flash of brown sent another fountain of blood exploding from the black body. A roar echoed around the forest, and the great beast charged at the small nimble cat, who lept to one side, narrowly avoiding another strike on his face. Deathstrike hissed, and lept up onto the badger's back, digging his jagged claws into it's shoulder blades. Blood squirted up, landing on his skull shaped stripe. He would not win this fight, not alone, but he would die before he retreated, so good did it feel to let out his fury. Death seemed a kind possibility.

The badger, not unwary of the strategy, smacked its back repeatedly on a tree, until Deathstrike fell, bruised. The beast loomed closer, raising itself, preparing to bring itself down on the dark tabby.

Another tabby cat roamed through the territory. Coldpaw was utterly bored, it was the only reason she had left camp. Wasn't like she was going to do anything out here. Well, that's what she thought before she heard a roar. Her ears perked and curiosity prickled on her fur. She dashed off in the direction of the noise without any thought in the matter. She slid to a stop on the moist ground as she saw a badger fighting a cat. Deathstrike lay on the ground as the creature rose to crash down on her clanmate. Without any hesitation she shot forward and leapt at the badger's side. She collided with black fur and the two masses toppled over. The badger was shocked, but only for a moment. It gave her a nasty scratch on her left foreleg as she jumped off of the writhing beast.

Deathstrike snarled. "Go away Coldpaw! Let me fight the stupid creature! let its blood quench the thirst of the plant. Let its body quench the thirst of my blood-lust!" He ran up to the badger, sliding under its belly, slashing as he skidded. When he emerged he was attacked, his back leg breaking with a loud snap. He stood up on three legs and began to laugh. It was the laugh of a mad-cat, a psychotic joke. Not pleasant to hear.

Coldpaw flinched at the loud snap of his bone. It was utterly sicking. So was Deathstrike's talking. She stared at the tom in disbelief. She knew he wasn't all there already but it was worse than he thought. His manical laugh could cause someone to rip their ears off and go mad themselves. "You need some serious help," she said, but you didn't know if she was talking about the fight or his mental stability. She charged past the badger while it was facing her clanmate. Her claws razed it's flesh and fur as she went past. Pain exploded as it whipped around and grasped her tail in its jaws.

Deathstrike blinked, trying to see past the red mist. He had heard what Coldpaw said, and it was bringing him back to his scenes. Pain swept through his body, but despite that he lunged at the badger's neck, trying to bring it away from Coldpaw. Just for a moment, the old Deathkit was back.
